Drawing on elements of abstract expressionism and graffiti culture, Brooklyn-based artist Dirquo creates abstract and hyper-real representations of the modern urban landscape.
His artwork largely focuses on fleeting moments of industrial dialogue. By incorporating ephemeral processes and materials, the dialogue assumes a transient quality and becomes equally an historical record and an independent tangent in time.
Dirquo sites post-WWII abstract expressionist artists such as Franz Kline, Barnett Newman, Clyfford Still, and Cy Twombly, amongst others as significant inspirations.
