Contemporary art aficionados – listen up, because online gallery Hang-Up Pictures has joined forces with creative advertising agency, Wieden+Kennedy to launch the debut solo show of emerging talent, Alex Daw. Using a ‘cut and paint’ technique and working with a plethora of media, Daw manages to create a series of ingenious collage-like masterpieces. His obsessive nature to criticise and deconstruct objects is truly otherworldly, and the result is a series of compelling mementos of modern life which draws the viewer in. Mocking our cult society, satirising the clinical and surgical lengths to which celebrities go to alter their appearances, Daw’s works are refreshingly post-modern.
